Registration is open for our three short Reading Programmes running during the Spring Term. Spring Term commences Saturday 7th January 2023. The details for each programme are shown below:
At the Learn the Sounds accelerated reading programme, your child will learn the basic skill needed prior to blending i.e. the knowledge of the sounds each alphabet makes.
Once this skill is established, your child can then go on to learn the single most important skill needed to read i.e., “BLENDING” (in our Learn to Blend programme). Blending is impossible without the prior knowledge of the individual sounds that make a word.
Children learning to read need basic skills taught in sequence to read easily and accurately. Letters of the alphabets are pictures of sounds and teaching children how to connect these sound pictures to work together in words is phenomenal. At the Learn to Blend reading programme, we will teach your child to connect these sound pictures to sounds through effective combination of Synthetic Phonics (SP) and Phonemic Awareness (PA) using our effective teaching methods of decoding, segmenting and blending strategy without the forced memorisation of the entire word.
Multi-syllable words are words that can be broken down into two or more chunks. They can be long, extended and have special endings. Reading and spelling with better accuracy, fluency, vocabulary development, and ultimately comprehension is a critical skill needed by all children. Providing children with effective teaching strategy for reading and spelling of multi-syllable words gives them the right foundation to become successful, fluent, and confident readers.
