Children learn to read long and unfamiliar words without skipping and mumbling words

Multi-syllable words are words that can be broken down into two or more chunks. They can be long, extended and have special endings. Reading and spelling with better accuracy, fluency, vocabulary development, and ultimately comprehension is a critical skill needed by all children. Providing children with effective teaching strategy for reading and spelling of multi-syllable words gives them the right foundation to become successful, fluent, and confident readers.

Children with good decoding and blending skills can still get hung up reading longer or unfamiliar words that are tricky to read and understand. Children given the process, rule, and skill to work through multi-syllable words are empowered to read with ease instead of guessing or relying on memory. When they are taught a systematic way of breaking words into decodable blocks, they build the right skills and confidence, preventing them from skipping words or mumbling when presented with larger and unfamiliar words.

Our Advance Reading Programme is a 12-week programme where your child learns the sounds at the advanced level. This programme is a 4-week programme to support children with the working knowledge of the advanced sounds but struggle to read extended, unfamiliar or words with special ending. The multi-syllable programme is included in our Advance Reading Programme.

We recruit tutors who are graduates and teachers, however we train our tutors to use our scientific proven reading method using a combination of synthetic phonics and phonemic awareness. We have excellent experience in teaching children to read in a short period of time using our sequential teaching strategy.

Pupils are required to come to the Dartford or Southgate centre 11:30am-1:30pm with their stationery, water and snack. Lesson notes and all programme materials will be provided to the children and are delivered by our trained tutor.
